Here's the complete, self-contained `.html` file. All five columns sum to exactly 100% and to each yacht's stated price; assumptions are listed in the footnotes so you (or a reader) can adjust figures easily — search for the table cells, or the `data-count` values, to edit numbers. ```html Where the Money Goes — New 50–60 ft Yacht Cost Breakdown

Owner's specification sheet · Cost allocation

Where the money goes on a new 50–60 ft yacht

A rough, industry-plausible split of a new-build price across fourteen cost centres — from resin and rigging to the dealer's cut — for five very different hull types. Illustrative, not a quote.

03 · The pattern

Where the average dollar goes

Averaged across all five yachts. Structure and labor dominate; roughly one in six dollars never touches the boat at all.

04 · Assumptions

How to read this sheet

01Figures are illustrative industry estimates for production / semi-custom series yachts, fully equipped and sail-away ready. Actual yards vary widely — budget builders skew toward lower overhead & margin, semi-custom yards toward higher labor.

02All prices are USD, ex-VAT. The "taxes" row covers import duty and certification only; national sales tax/VAT (often 7–22%) sits on top of everything shown.

03"Sales company" is the dealer/distributor margin plus factory marketing — the industry-standard 8–10% of MSRP.

04On sailboats, rig & sails are folded into "Electrical, rig & energy" (mast, boom, standing/running rigging, sail wardrobe). On the solar cat, this row carries the solar hardtop, lithium house bank and controllers.

05Interior sq ft is an approximation of enclosed, climate-controlled area (salon, galley, cabins, heads). Catamarans win here — twin hulls plus a bridgedeck salon buy real volume per foot of LOA.

06Reference classes: 56 ft production sloop (Beneteau / Hanse tier) · 52 ft displacement trawler (Nordic Tug tier) · 52 ft production sailing cat (Lagoon / Leopard tier) · 53 ft power cat · 58 ft solar-electric cat (Silent-Yachts tier).

``` **Notes on the numbers** - Every column's percentages sum to exactly 100% and every dollar column sums to that yacht's stated price, so the table is internally consistent if you re-mix the splits. - Key modeling choices: sailboats carry rig/sails inside the "Electrical, rig & energy" row; cats get a higher transportation share (wide-beam freight) and two engines; the solar cat shifts money from structure into engineering and the energy system. - "Taxes" deliberately covers duty/compliance only — if you want a VAT-inclusive version, add a flat row at the bottom. - To edit any figure, just change the cell's `pct`/`amt` text and keep each column's percentages summing to 100.
