Estimated Worldwide Market for New Yachts by Type and Length
Important note: The figures below are directional market estimates for new-yacht sales worldwide, expressed in U.S. dollars.
They are intended for planning, website content, and market-sizing purposes, not as audited industry statistics.
“Average interior square footage” means approximate enclosed living area, excluding exterior decks, cockpits, flybridges, swim platforms, and machinery spaces.
For catamarans, the figure includes both hull interiors plus the bridge-deck salon area.

General Observations
- Largest unit-volume segments: 36–47 ft monohull sailboats, 41–52 ft sailing catamarans, and 40–54 ft power trawlers.
- Largest dollar-volume segments: Mid-size and larger catamarans and trawlers generate high market value because average transaction prices rise quickly above 50 ft.
- Catamarans command more interior volume per foot: A 45–48 ft sailing catamaran can offer interior space comparable to, or greater than, a much longer monohull.
- Trawlers have the highest estimated total market value: Even with similar unit volume to monohull sailing yachts, higher propulsion, systems, interior volume, and equipment costs create much higher average selling prices.
