1. Feasibility Analysis: Automatic Fishing & FAD Dynamics

Automatic Fishing Machine (Robo-Angler) Feasibility

Verdict: Technically feasible but mechanically complex. High maintenance in saltwater.

Concept: A "Longline/Greenstick Hybrid Robot" mounted on the aft walkway corners. Uses electric winches, auto-baiting hooks (or lure changers), depth control via downriggers, and a "fish elevator" (tilting ramp + water flush) to deposit catch into a bleed/ice tank.
Key Challenges:
- Fouling: Lines, hooks, and mechanisms foul instantly in tropical growth.
- Bycatch/Sharks: Caribbean sharks will destroy gear; need SharkGuard (electric pulse deterrent) or magnetic hooks.
- Sea State: At 0.5-1kt drift, the seastead is stable, but 3ft+ chop tangles lines.
- Processing: "Automatic cleaning" (gutting/scaling) is unreliable for variable Mahi sizes. Recommendation: Automate capture & bleed/ice only. Human cleans.
Alarm Strategy: Load cells on line + camera AI (species ID) -> Alert via Ship LAN/Phone App. "Fish On / Line Snag / Shark Detected".

Seastead as a FAD (Fish Aggregating Device)

Verdict: Extremely Effective. Your platform is a superior FAD.

Structure: 3x massive vertical foils (21.5ft draft) + 3x Heave Plates + Hull Shadow = massive vertical relief & shade.
Attraction Time:
- Baitfish (Scad, Sprat): Minutes to hours.
- Predators (Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin): 24–72 hours for reliable aggregation on a stationary platform in blue water.
Drift Speed vs. Fish Retention:
- 0.0 - 0.5 kts (Drift/Hold): Excellent. Fish treat it as stationary structure.
- 0.5 - 1.5 kts (Slow Troll): Mahi/Wahoo will follow. They are curious and associate structure with prey. They will station-keep on the up-current side.
- > 2 kts: Most pelagics peel off; only dedicated followers (Rainbow Runners, Pilot Fish) stay.
Enhancement: Submersible Green LEDs (520-530nm) on heave plates/legs + Chum Dripper (timed pump from chum freezer) reduces aggregation time to 4-12 hours.

Container Packing Impact

Package A (Private): Fits easily in "Center Void" of 45ft HC. Est volume: ~1.5 CBM. Weight: ~450 lbs. Negligible impact on 62,000 lb limit.
Package B (Commercial): Heavy. RSW Tank/Chiller + Freezer + Hydraulic Crane = ~3,500 lbs. Volume ~6 CBM. Requires dedicated structural pads in Legs (pre-installed by NA). Reduces available payload for batteries/ballast.

Critical Path Items for Naval Architect

Leg Internal Volume Allocation: Define exactly which Leg gets RSW (Commercial) or Chum Freezer (Private). Requires cutting access hatches in foil shell before resin infusion.
Aft Walkway Structural Scan: The "Robo-Angler" or "Commercial Hauler" mounts see dynamic loads of 2,000+ lbs. The walkway-to-hull connection (bolted + diagonal braces) must be calculated for this moment.
Electrical Bus Upgrade: Commercial Package requires 10kW+ continuous for Freezer/RSW/Ice Maker. This demands a dedicated 48V DC Bus (or 230V AC Inverter) separate from House/Thrusters. Battery bank in Legs must support this.
MARPOL / Annex V Compliance: Commercial waste (guts, packaging) requires Garbage Management Plan & Record Book. Macerator overboard only permitted >3nm / >12nm depending on waste type. Design holding tank for port stays.
Stability Booklet Update: Adding 3,500 lbs high up (Crane) or low in legs (RSW) changes VCG/KG. Must be in the Intact Stability Code calculation.

Anguilla Specific Strategy

FAD Network: Deploy 10-15 private FADs (Palm frond / Buoy / Anchor) at 30, 60, 100, 150nm East/NE. Use Seastead as "Mother Ship" to service them monthly.
Licensing: Private = "Sport Fishing License" (Easy). Commercial = "Commercial Fishing License + VMS + Catch Data Returns" (Dept of Fisheries). Ensure NA provides "Builder's Certificate" for Anguilla Registry (Category 2/3 Commercial Coding likely required if >24m LOA - you are 13.4m, so likely <24m Load Line cert, but Commercial Coding applies if carrying paying pax or selling catch).
Mahi Migration: Peak Nov-May. Seastead mobility allows tracking the "Blue Water" edge (temp breaks) which container ships can't do.
