I wonder about a geodesic dome with inflated pieces in each triangle. I think these can be called 1) ETFE cushion roof / facade 2) pneumatic ETFE membrane cladding 3) inflated foil cushions on a triangulated gridshell I am interested in making a seastead where all the parts can be shipped in a single 40 foot container but when put together it has a lot of living space. A geodesic dome with these in the triangles seems like a design method that results in something that can ship in a small volume but work for making a large living space. I guess these would have to be custom made for the exact sizes of the triangles. How is this done? Like you order them made that way or is it done on site? How expensive are these? What sorts of options are there as far a s clear, opaque, reflective, or insulative material? How long do they last? Do they generally replace them after some number of years? If we had clear in a 50 foot dome and made layer of lightweight/flexible solar panels above where people lived but inside the dome, how much less power do you think they would get than if they were outside? The panels and wiring would be protected from salt spray and wind. But it would produce less power.
